Brouhaha International launches City Central BID’s Summer Programme Thursday 22nd July 4pm

City Central BID is launching this year’s summer programme in spectacular style with 200 performers from Brouhaha International Street Festival on Thursday 22nd July at 4pm. From Friday the public will witness Williamson Square transform into an Urban Beach for the second year running, with a huge range of activities including a giant sand pit, donkey rides and trampolines. To reflect 2010’s status as Year of Health and Wellbeing, Clayton Square will be running an ‘Alive’ campaign packing the square with activities for kids to have fun whilst keeping fit. A summer garden area with also be open to relax in together with walking water balls, pedal power scooters and a giant BBC screen will prove a hit with youngsters. Both Williamson Square and Clayton Square will be in full flow on Monday 26th July.

"Parents can bring their children to get active on the pedal power scooters, walk on water balls or relax in the children’s garden whilst watching the cartoons on the BBC screen. All to support 2010 being the official year of Health and Well Being”
The top of Church Street will feature an authentic Victorian Helter Skelter whilst on Whitechapel, Lord St and Paradise St the International Street market will take place.
Ged Gibbons, Chief Executive of City Central BID said “The new extended summer programme is in place to drive foot fall into the city centre and boost trading opportunities for local businesses. Brouhaha will add a real sense of vibrancy and excitement to the city centre and the wide range of activities means there will literally be something for everyone. ”
The Brouhaha Street Carnival parade will consist of 24 international groups starting at 4pm on the 22nd July at Clayton Square. They will proceed through the City Central retail area down Church Street and Whitechapel before the finale in Williamson Square. More artists will be showcasing their talents on the stage situated at the Old Church Street Podium alongside the traditional carousel. Carnival performances will also take place in Queen Square, Metquarter, Bold Street, Williamson Square and Clayton Square from 5 till 7pm.
